Winner of the a 2020 Best of Year Award from Interior Design Magazine, Finance/Law Firm Category
The 8-story law office for a leading law firm is structured around a diagonal atrium connecting all floors. The atrium contains seven monumental staircases, increasing connectivity within the office and allowing light to penetrate into the space. The atrium features several destination social amenities designed to improve collaboration, including a law library, dining rooms, a conference center, and a large outdoor terrace.
The atrium, which was dubbed ‘The Sleeve’, improves circulation, increases connectivity, creates transparency, and allows natural light to penetrate through the space. The top two floors of the office house the client-facing conference center and serve as the main arrival area for visitors, with the 6 floors below serving as practice floors – partner and associate offices line the perimeter of each floor. Seven monumental stairs traverse The Sleeve and connect occupants to a unique social amenity space on each floor, serving both visitors and employees: the coffee bar, the law library, a mock courtroom, the game room, the dining rooms, informal work tables, the outdoor terrace, the private bar, and the formal conference center. The Sleeve is wrapped with a custom-fabricated screen of walnut and muntz metal panels, unifying the different social amenities into one coherent space. A skylight was added at the top of the Sleeve to allow light to penetrate the middle of the floor plate from the 13th floor down to the 6th floor.
The project was certified LEED Gold for Commercial Interiors.
