Proposal, 2018-2019.

Leveraging recent zoning changes aimed at revitalizing the Miami neighborhood, this proposal for a large-scale mixed-use development fuses complementing hotel and co-working office programs. Creating a destination building that caters to a wide audience during throughout the day. With 190 hotel keys and 50,000 square feet of co-working space, the building was designed to become a strong anchor for the neighborhood revitalization.

Channeling the modernist history of Miami’s architecture, the design exposes the building’s structural elements as well as various programs throughout the building. The most prominent of these programs are situation on a club floor, a double-height space located in the middle of the building. The club floor includes a large lounge, a restaurant, and a bar, and leverages the different users already in the building to create a vibrant setting for a wide range of activities, both indoor and outdoor on a large roof terrace.

Additionally, both the ground floor and a large roof terrace will have destination food & beverage opportunities. The ground floor will feature generous ceilings, a wide range dining and retail opportunities, and will capitalize on a publicly accessible arcade that cuts through the site. The building’s roof will have curated features and amenities such as a pool, a bar, and a spa – it will have lush vegetation to provide shade and privacy, and will feature generous views of Downtown Miami, Midtown, and the Design District.

The fundamental design of the building and its features, from street level to its roof, showcase a contemporary take on the classic Miami Modern style. Leveraging past influences and new programs to create a typology that is at home in its surroundings, while creating an iconic presence in the neighborhood skyline.
