Following our work with chef Rafael Hasid, founder of owner of the beloved restaurant Miriam, on a new location in the Upper West Side and the renovations of the iconic original space in Park Slope, we were tasked with creating the 4th and largest venue for the Miriam family – a highly visible space in the heart of the West Village. The space is the result of a collaboration between Pliskin Architecture (panyc) and Sarit Holzmann, working closely with Chef Hasid to translate his culinary spirit into design. The result is a setting that feels both familiar and new – much like Miriam’s menu itself.
A sun-drenched solarium greets guests upon arrival, leading into a lounge anchored by a striking wood-and-marble bar, with soft textures and earthy tones create the first scene in the restaurant’s experience. From the lounge, the restaurant unfolds into three distinct dining spaces, each designed with its own personality, creating a range of experiences throughout the restaurant. The main dining room is anchored by a lively mezze counter, where guests can watch fresh small plates being prepared while perched on a marble and sage-colored bar. The next space is marked by its brightness, where colorful light fixtures and bold accents infuse a sense of playfulness. The final dining room, accessed through arched openings, offers seclusion and intimacy – a private dining space that feels tucked away, ideal for intimate gatherings that call for a sense of occasion.
Miriam West Village celebrates both tradition and reinvention – bringing the warmth of Miriam’s kitchen to a new stage in one of New York’s most iconic neighborhoods.
