Developers: Foxy Management, Borough Equities
Proposal, 2018.
This development in the Bronx will comprise 110 affordable housing units, a church, and additional community components. The design creates a visual relationship between the public components and the residential units, establishing a clear street presence for each program element. The residential lobby is set back to act as a backdrop for the community functions in the shared building.
Community and public-facing portions of the building will have a four-story facade in a light-colored brick rainscreen. Housing units are set farther back and finished with darker masonry. The Church sanctuary has a double-height space facing the street and a double-height Narthex connecting the street to a large, open courtyard. The courtyard has sections allotted for residential tenants, private church use, private gardens, and a shared space to celebrate the communal experience of a diverse constituency.
