Collaboration with K&Co
Annual Installation, 2015-2021.

First conceived for the 2015 summer season, the K&Co and Pliskin Architecture designed annual summer pop-up for the Manhattan Park Pool Club, also dubbed MP Pool Party, spanned the course of 7 pool seasons. Each year, the design team commissioned an 8,000sf mural from a different artist, with Minneapolis based street artist HOT TEA creating the inaugural installation, a 2016 mural by Wyoming artist Andrew Faris, Gregg Emery creating the 2017 mural, Technodrome1 as the 2018 contributor,  Elizabeth Sutton for the 2019 installation, Alex Proba completing the 2020 Mural, and a mural by Melissa Dadourian for the 2021 season.

The client, Roosevelt Island Associates, together with of K&Co and Pliskin Architecture, was working on a larger remodel of the outdoor pool area and other public amenities at Manhattan Park, an 8.5 acre waterfront rental community located on Roosevelt Island in New York City. In parallel to the work on the units and public spaces at Manhattan Park, the design team proposed a temporary installation that would last for each pool season. The pop-up pool design features loungers, hammocks, beach-style lifeguard chairs, and other deck furniture, as well as other upgrades – all with an iconic, pop-art feel. The redesigned space features a pool deck mural allowing residents and visitors to be fully immersed in a painting, with each summer having its own unique signature.

Below are videos of the installation and completed spaces throughout the different years:
